Lost
Property returned to the Office
We often find all
kinds of leftovers after an event usually with no means of identifying
the owner - gloves, hats, jackets, horseshoes, whips and occasionally
even purses, cameras & mobile phones. If you are missing
something and have no idea where you might have lost it, please call
the office and ask - they also keep a list of lost items in case they
turn up ! |
| Some
instances have been reported where a suspicious-looking male in a grey
coat has been hanging around fields where horses are kept in the
Solihull area. Be
extra vigilant and if you see anything or anyone suspicious call the
police on 0845 1135000 or in
emergency dial 999. |

HORSE
PASSPORT LAW CHANGES EFFECTIVE FROM 1 JULY 2009
From this
date if you own a horse or are its main keeper you are
responsible for making sure it is correctly identified, but only the
owner of the horse can apply for a passport. From 1 July 2009 the
horse owner or keeper should make sure its passport is
available for inspection
AT ALL TIMES - NOT JUST WHEN TRADING OR
TRANSPORTING.
However, you don’t need to have the passport on hand when the horse
is in its stable, grazing in a field or being moved on foot, but if
you are asked for the horse’s passport during these times you will
need to show it to the Inspector WITHIN THREE
HOURS and failure to comply could incur a fine of up to £5,000
per horse.

FREEZEMARK
& MICROCHIP INITIATIVE
To enable NED to help trace horses stolen or missing on loan, from 1
July 2009 it will be mandatory for equines to be microchipped at first
registration, and you can add freezemark or microchip numbers for your
own already-registered horses. Instructions
The new look
NED is now live - key features of the new release are: brand new home
page and fresh new look throughout the site, reporting facility for
horses lost or stolen developed in collaboration with HorseWatch,
photo gallery of horses uploaded on to NED and a new value-for-money
points scheme for chargeable services which replaces the introductory
£1 offer and operates very much like a simple 'pay as you go' mobile
phone package.
You can
purchase points at any time, they are credited to your account and can
then be spent on any NED services - passport checks, associating with
equines you own or any of NED's wide selection of data reports.
As an existing member you do not need to make any changes to take
advantage of the new features.
When
your introductory membership finishes, your account will
automatically
switch onto the new points scheme leaving your existing Associations,
Favourites and NEDLinks still in place.
