GOLD
for SRC Member EMMA
CASTLE riding for Team GB in the CIC** European Team Championships at Aston
Le Walls with Emma in overall 5th place riding
Caroline Webb's Castle Larchfield Purdy.
The
CIC** Team Championship, which used to be referred to as Rural Riders, includes the
unique team dressage test where the whole team of six ride the test together
under the command of the Chef d’Equipe.

Nagykanzsa Hungary in 2009 as a GB individual gaining 17th place (photo

This
project is run in conjunction with British Eventing (BE) and the aim is to
select a pool of riders and horses from BRC and BE members for training. The
pool is kept under review and candidates added or removed depending on
compatibility for the team test, responsiveness to training and competition
performance. Training is provided by Richard Waygood (Chef d’Equipe) and
Jonathan Chapman (Assistant Chef d’Equipe). It focuses on the team dressage
test, but there are also coaching sessions for individual dressage and jumping
included in the programme.
Horse
and rider combinations selected for the team must be qualified for a CIC**, but
must not have completed a CIC*** in the two years preceding the championship or
completed a 4* at any time. Each nation competing in the championship is allowed
to take up to eight horses and riders. Six will be selected for the team and two
will run as individuals.
Any member interested in training for the 2013 Championships to be held in Austria
should contact Peter Buist by email at peterbuist@aol.com or by telephone on 01794 368061
for further information.
